Reviews
Honestly nothing great exists anymore at this castle on top of Asolo. Accessible via a walk from town, there is not much to see. It's in ruins.
The Rocca can be reached by a steep-ish 10-minute walk from the centre up well-kept steps, or by a more leisurely 20-minute route.
There are great views of the surrounding countryside.
The Rocca itself is a simple if large fortification, and when I visited (December 2021) was closed to visitors due to renovation work.
Very nice, worth the visit. 2€ entrance ticket.
The charge of 2 e per person is probably not even covering the salary of two girls sitting in the stand.
Otherwise nice destination for an afternoon trip
Asolo is a beautiful town. Walked up many steps to reach the castle and when we reached it this is what we found. Exhausting ascent, but after the much less gruelling descent we had a lovely lunch in the square. Well worth the visit. Fantastic photo opportunities
Cool, but not as beautiful as Marostica or Castelfranco
The Rocca di Asolo or Rocca Braida is a fortress, located on the top of Monte Ricco, overlooking the village of the same name. The massive construction has a polygonal plan with nine unequal sides. In the walls, about 4 m thick at the base and up to 15 m high, there are no loopholes or windows: only a door, already connected to the lower castle, gave access to the upper stronghold of the city's defensive system. The well head and the underlying cistern, in Venetian style, can be dated to the 14th century.
Great wiev over the Alps
It's a 15 minute hike up steps to the top of the hill get to the fortress but the views are worth it. Not only at the top but going up and down you see the surrounding area. The fortress is only open on weekends and holidays and costs 2 euros to get in.
Lovely walk up and fantastic views at the top
Currently closed for restoration, would have been nice if they has a sign at the bottom. Still glad we went up.
